Jim Chanin
Jim Chanin, President of Chanin Development Inc., has twenty years of
diversified experience in the real estate industry encompassing
land development, general contracting and home building. Prior to
founding Chanin Development in 1993, Mr. Chanin worked for Centex
Homes, Inc. During his five-year tenure with Centex he worked in
many capacities within the company gaining invaluable experience
from the ground up.
Recognizing the growth opportunity for residential homebuilding
in Colorado, Mr. Chanin established Chanin Builders, Inc. This company
expanded rapidly, and by 1998 was building 40 residential units
a year including townhomes, semi-custom and custom homes. In 1997,
Mr. Chanin formed Chanin Development Inc. in order to pursue land
development opportunities in addition to his general contracting business.
Mr. Chanin has extensive experience as a real estate principal,
responsible for all of Chanin Development's real estate related activities including finance,
capital formation, land acquisition and management. Having worked with numerous municipalities in the
processes of annexation, land planning, subdivision, entitlement,
engineering, and development of infrastructure, Mr. Chanin is well
versed in all aspects of land development.
Mr. Chanin received his BA degree from Rollins College and is currently
involved with The National Association of Home Builders, Colorado
Home Builders Association, Urban Land Institute and Habitat for
Humanity. Mr. Chanin currently lives in Boulder, Colorado with his wife and two children.
Trent Gustafson
Trent E. Gustafson, Director of Development at Chanin Development, Inc, has
worked in the real estate development and construction business for over 15 years.
Prior to joining Chanin Development, Mr. Gustafson developed retail, multi-family
and single-family residential properties in Houston, Texas and Las Vegas, Nevada,
was a construction engineer with the Bechtel Group of San Francisco and worked in
the Real Estate Advisory Services practice in the Denver office of Ernst & Young.
A Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and a member of the University of
Colorado Real Estate Council, Mr. Gustafson earned his MBA in Real Estate and Finance
from the University of Colorado and a BS in Building Construction from Texas A&M
University. He and his wife live in Boulder.
